Procedures
Procedures is your practice’s log of clinical procedures — scheduled ones you are planning for and completed ones you have carried out. Open Procedures from the sidebar.
The Procedures page
Section titled “The Procedures page”The page splits your procedures into two independently-paginated lists:
- Scheduled Procedures — upcoming procedures, soonest first.
- Completed Procedures — procedures already performed, most recent first.
A shared filter above both lists narrows them together:
- Provider — the performing provider; All providers shows every one.
- From and To — a date range. It keys off the natural date for each list (the scheduled date for upcoming, the performed date for completed).
The selection toolbar exports the procedures to CSV, Excel or PDF, and prints the list.
To capture a procedure, choose New procedure (also reachable as Record a procedure in the sidebar’s Quick create menu). Each row in the list has an Edit action. Both New procedure and Edit are write actions, so they are hidden from a read-only Viewer; a Scribe cannot open the page at all. The Procedures sub-nav carries List, New and Calendar tabs.
The New procedure form
Section titled “The New procedure form”New procedure (titled Edit procedure when you reopen one) opens the form — Schedule or record a clinical procedure for a patient. It is organized into sections:
- Procedure — Procedure name, Procedure detail (free text; required when the name is Other), Scheduled or completed, Outpatient status, Patient, Provider, Assistant provider, and Assistant (other) for an assistant who is not a member of your practice.
- Clinical detail — GA weeks / GA days, Procedure site, Method, Side, and Anesthesia.
- Outcome — Complications, EBL (ml), Duration (minutes), and Hospital readmission.
- Count Procedure — a checkbox. Unchecked keeps the procedure in your lists but leaves it out of procedure counts.
- Course of care — optionally attach the procedure to a recorded Birth (Not attached to a birth by default). When you attach one, conditional fields appear — Circumcision detail for a male newborn, Cesarean status for a cesarean birth.
- Timing — Scheduled for and Performed at.
- Notes — free-text notes.
Save with Save procedure (Save changes when editing), or Save and add another to keep entering procedures. Cancel discards, and an existing procedure can be removed with Delete.
On the chart and the calendar
Section titled “On the chart and the calendar”A procedure attached to a birth shows on that patient’s chart alongside the birth record. Scheduled and completed procedures also appear on the Calendar as an overlay: the calendar’s procedures legend links straight to the Scheduled Procedures and Completed procedures lists on this page.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Record a birth — attach a procedure to a birth’s course of care.
- Patients — where a patient’s procedures appear on the chart.
